What is Namma Metro?

Namma Metro (Bengaluru Metro) is the modern transportation system serving the city of Bangalore. Since its launch in 2011, it has been connecting major residential hubs with the city's primary business districts.

The Network Map

  • The Purple Line (East-West): Runs from Whitefield (Kadugodi) in the east to Challaghatta in the west. Connects Indiranagar, MG Road, and Majestic. It is the busiest route.
  • The Green Line (North-South): Runs from Madavara (BIEC) in the north to Silk Institute in the south. Passes through Peenya, Malleshwaram, and Jayanagar.
  • The Yellow Line: Connects from RV Road to Bommasandra.
  • The Interchange: Both lines meet at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station (Majestic).

Interchange Stations

The Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station (Majestic) is the most important hub. It is a multi-level underground station where Purple and Green lines cross. It is directly connected to KSR Bengaluru Railway Station and Majestic Bus Stand.

Phase 2 - The Blue Line: Airport and ORR Connection

  • Phase 2A (Silk Board to KR Puram): Runs along the busiest IT corridors
  • Phase 2B (KR Puram to Airport): Connects to Kempegowda International Airport. Full line to airport targeted for completion by 2027.

The Pink Line: The North-South Underground Route

Runs deep underground through the heart of the city.
